Chris Koanui has served our country in the armed forces and continues to serve our community as a Police Officer in the Honolulu Police Department. Chris also has a passion and love for dogs that motivated him to enroll in Animal Behavioral College. After earning his diploma from ABC, he signed up for an obedience training program. Chris negotiated the training program and used it with great success on his Beagle, Sasha, his Dutch Shepherd, Xenia and his Yellow Labrador Retriever named Zeus. That success led him to take it to the next level and become a highly skilled Dog Trainer in his own right. Many families have Chris to thank for a new outlook on life with a well-behaved dog.
Leonard Letoto has always had a love for dogs. He has handled and trained police K-9s since 2001, specializing in explosives detection. Early on, he was told he was a “natural” due to his ability to handle and control virtually any dog. In 2009, Leonard expanded his skill set to include pet obedience training and has since helped many dog owners realize their training goals. Leonard has also contributed a lot of time and energy to various rescue organizations by fostering and training dogs to facilitate adoptions. He currently owns 7 dogs: A German Shepherd named Pono, 3 Belgian Malinois named Peaches, Spice and Bowser, a deaf Pit Bull mix named Jar-Jar, a Miniature Pinscher named Prince and a Rottweiler named Creed.
As Co-Founders of Exceptional Obedience Dog Training, Chris and Leonard are poised to utilize their years of experience to do even more for the families of Hawaii, their furry companions and the community. They look forward to meeting you and your dogs and exceeding your expectations!
